Monday, January 13th

Today was the first day of a new format for our journals.  Students were read a very short story and then asked several different questions.  After a brief discussion, friends chose which part of the story they wanted to retell by drawing/writing about it.

Our morning meeting time in now split into two groups.  One group works on phonological awareness skills with our Heggerty lessons while the other group works on a morning message.  Here, the students can see first-hand how print carries meaning through modeling the writing process.  This helps students make connections between the written word and oral language.
The groups then switch activities to practice the other set of skills.

Today was our 91st day of school!  Friends noticed that we are getting very close to 100.
"Is that a b?"
