Bowling Field Trip!
Our morning began with Bob, the maintenance man, giving us a sneak peek of the equipment used behind the scenes.
He first talked to us about the lanes and why they are so shiny. It is because they put a coat of oil on them in order for the ball to roll smoothly. He also informed us of the "scratch line" where we are not to cross.
Before entering the backside of the lanes, we talked about how to be safe near the machine.
The pin setter holds 21 pins, one extra to save time if there is a mishap while setting the sets of 10 pins.
This is the ramp for the ball return. It kind of looks like a roller coaster.
Bob answered more questions for us.
Here, Bob is telling us about the camera used to count the number of pins that remain standing in order to calculate the score.
The camera sends information to a box on the back of the lane and then sends it to the score board.
Our first step to go bowling was to change our shoes!
Then we entered the number of bowlers and our names into the machine.
Then we were ready to begin!
a "split"
When we were finished, it was time to return our shoes.
We then explored other parts of the bowling alley before heading back to school.
