Happy Farm to Pizza Field Trip Day!
We battled the cold and snow but learned so much.
Our first stop was a mock farm, where Farmer Dave guided us through several hands-on learning stations. We learned about corn, practiced milking a cow, and “picked” tomatoes, peppers, and apples. We even collected (fake) eggs from the hen house, which also had live chickens and real eggs! To wrap up our farm experience, each student sold their produce for $1.00.
We then exchanged our $1.00 for the ingredients to make our pizzas. Here, we were all able to create and enjoy our very own English muffin pizza.
Next, we learned about the life cycle of a Roma tomato and even got to plant our own seed to take home. When your child brings home their tomato plant, the first step is to remove the lid. Beginning tomorrow, water it with one tablespoon of water each day and watch it grow!
We also learned about crops and discovered that soybeans are a big part of our daily lives. From foods we eat to products we use every day, soybeans are used in so many ways.
Our last stop was the animal barn. Friends got to see and learn more about pigs, goats, and cows.
