Two of our small groups concentrated on shapes.
In this small group activity, children start with a simple shape and turn it into a picture. This fun drawing exercise helps children recognize shapes in the world around them while building creativity and imagination. It also strengthens fine motor skills.
Mrs. Beltz's group explored a shape book that is designed to encourage critical thinking and to generate math conversations. Friends answered the question, "Which one doesn't belong?" and then explained their reasoning. There are no right or wrong answers as long as they can justify their choice.
